A critical issue that may occur with IV drugs is microbial contamination. This contamination can cause severe bloodstream infections in patients, resulting in a high mortality rate of 15%-30% and producing substantial costs for the health care system [10]. Studies emphasise that critical infections also happen in countries with high nursing standards and found that 6% of disposable syringes were contaminated in the operating room and 16% in the general ward [11].
