AstraZeneca expands deployment of Cytel’s East software

AstraZeneca International, a pharmaceutical company, has expanded its deployment of Cytel's East software, a clinical trial design, simulation and monitoring system.

Cytel said that AstraZeneca’s increased use of East also features automated data transfer between its clinical data system (CDS) and East’s trial monitoring component. By eliminating manual data entry, AstraZeneca reportedly achieved the multiple benefits of greater clinical trial analysis efficiency and increased security of vital study data.

Steve Herbert, vice president of business development at Cytel, said: “AstraZeneca came to Cytel looking to improve data entry into East from its own CDS. Our software engineers worked closely with their AstraZeneca’s counterparts to help achieve data handling within its CDS path and ensure compliance with Clinical Data Interchange Standards Consortium guidelines.”

Maria Johansson, manager of business tools at AstraZeneca, said: “Cytel’s customized version of East for AstraZeneca is now fully integrated with our CDS eliminating any manual data handling and facilitating the data analysis process. This new automation also helps us maintain the integrity of the interim data, reducing the risk of unintentional un-blinding.”
