Sigma-Aldrich unveils new distribution center, packaging facility in India

Sigma-Aldrich has completed a 57,000ft² expansion of its Bangalore, India, campus to include distribution center and new packaging facility.

The expansion features approximately 49,000ft² of distribution space and 8,000ft² of packaging space.

The existing campus will continue to facilitate the administrative offices, sales, marketing and distribution functions and manufacturing.

Sigma-Aldrich president and chief executive officer Rakesh Sachdev said India is a key location for the company to engage in the entire spectrum of activity including manufacturing, R & D, packaging and distribution.

"The country has huge potential and we plan to continue our focus in this important market," Sachdev added.

"We currently have small scale manufacturing in India. Based on customer input, we are evaluating further expansion programs that could include larger scale manufacturing in the future."
