EMD Serono designates new president

EMD Serono, the pharmaceuticals division of Merck KgaA, has named James Hoyes as the new president.

He will also serve as a member of executive management board for Merck Serono.

Previosly, he worked as a chief commercial officer for EMD Serono and was responsible for company’s business areas like: rheumatology, fertility, neurodegenerative diseases and metabolic endocrinology.

Additionally, he was also responsible for health outcomes, business intelligence, commercial operations and specialty pharmacy.

Hoyes held commercial positions in Sanofi, Elan and Sterling Drug.

Merck Serono president Stefan Oschmann said Hoyes as a strong knowledge of the industry and expertise across a variety of commercial functions, including sales, marketing, communications, managed markets, and collaborations.
