Manchester is home to a network of diagnostics companies including Qiagen – who have their ‘Global Centre of Excellence for Companion Diagnostics’ in Manchester, as well as Myconostica, Cyprotex and Epistem – inventors of the Genedrive.
The University of Manchester hosts the UK’s Centre for Integrated Genomic Medical Research offering services to industry that include study design, sample collection/ processing/storage and molecular and statistical analysis.
The city region is a hub for biobanking with over 20 facilities including the UK Biobank containing samples from more than half a million individuals.
