Allografts are human donor tissues (e.g. bone) processed for use in various surgical procedures (e.g. spinal, pelvic and fracture non-union). These products are cleaned with eCOO™, processed and sterilised at the end of the process. The total process reduces the risk of transmitting diseases by eliminating virtually all lipids, protein and potential transmissible agents.

Examples of allograft products include products from pre-formed bone segments for applications such as spinal fusions and granules for bone void filling.
Main advantages include:
- Lower risk of transmitting diseases than the products currently available
- Straightforward method fulfilling the recent validation standards as required by competent authorities
- Mechanical properties of the bone do not change, due to the absence of solvent
- Increased osteoinductivity
- Adaptation of existing production process
Most of the products developed at EMCM under the eTiss™ family are classified as Human Tissue (Allografts), as per the EU directives, and are available for distribution in most European countries:
- Osteoconductive bone void fillers such as cancellous chips, cancellous cylinders/blocks, cancellous-cortical powder, cortical ships for periodontology, trauma and orthopaedic applications
- Osteoinductive products such as DBM (Demineralised Bone Matrix) forms of gels, putties & powder for various orthopaedic, spine, reconstructive & revision procedures
- Soft Tissue products such as tendons, ligaments, patella, fascia for sports injuries and general orthopaedics
- Structural allografts such as cortical struts, mandibular, bone flaps, femoral heads and grafts for re-implantation & revision surgeries
- Autografts for re-implantation in close working relationships with hospitals and tissue banks for neurosurgery and maxillofacial reconstruction
The above product portfolio is provided to bone and tissue banks & medtech companies alike, either as a finished product or as a contracted service.
EMCM is currently in the process of registration of its techniques and products in several European countries including Germany and France.
