Tetramers are one of the major key components that lead to the understanding of cellular immune responses. Tetramer technology has developed into a standard method for quantifying CMV specific T cell responses. We have developed a CMV-Kit, which allows enumeration of CMV-specific T cells in a small sample in full blood.

CMV reactivation is one of the most frequent infectious complications after organ transplantation and after stem cell transfer and can develop into life threatening disease. The presence of CMV-specific T cells in the blood of patients is the best marker for protection against CMV disease.
To better identify patients at risk for recurrent CMV infection and CMV disease extend viral load monitoring with quantification of CMV specific T cells. Future clinical studies have to evaluate whether this method is appropriate in helping to tailor antiviral therapy in individual patients. We are prepared to support you in monitoring CD8 T lymphocytes using tetramers in cancer research, viral immunity, transplantation immunology and vaccine research programs
