The Portfolio and Decision Analytics (PDA) department of a top 10 pharmaceutical company wished to implement a portfolio management system to improve the analytics provided to senior management. A number of business partners needed to be aligned with the new system and quality issues with the data from these partners needed to be addressed.

Kinapse worked with each business partner to document how project, resource and financial data was managed and communicated. Gaps and weaknesses in the processes and quality of the data supplied by partners were identified. New processes for data sharing to overcome the problems identified and requirements for the portfolio system were defined. Kinapse assessed 24 vendors and worked with PDA to reduce this to a short list of 4.

PDA has improved data sharing processes with its business partners that have reduced data quality problems. There is alignment within the business partners on the requirements for the portfolio system. A preferred vendor was selected (the client took over the process of final vendor selection based on tools provided).
