Pharmacy technologists called on the council at the closing session of a four-day training program on advocacy, organised by the Business Sector Advocacy Challenge (BUSAC) Fund, reported GhanaWeb.
PTAG Western regional chairman Michael Gyamprah said the council has to put in place a policy that would enable pharmacy technologists to open and operate retail outlets.
Gyamprah added that some countries including Kenya and South Africa have such a policy, which helps in strengthening their pharma services.
Such a policy is also expected to ensure a proper dispensation of drugs in Ghana, especially in rural and deprived communities where pharma services are unavailable.
BUSAC Fund lead consultant Lord-Lucas Vodzi said there is a gap in pharmaceutical services at the grassroots that pharmacy technologists can fill.
"The association is made up of disciplined members and should not be ignored in the process of national development," Vodzi said.
