As part of an international group centred on metal-based products, Umicore Precious Metals Chemistry globally markets state-of-the-art, precious-metal-based chemicals and catalysts, along with metal-separation technologies, allowing development of reliable and cost-effective processes.
Chemicals and catalysts for catalytic and non-catalytic applications
Produced in kilograms to multi-ton batch sizes, our chemicals and catalysts have proven efficiency in many catalytic and non-catalytic applications for customers in industries such as life sciences, fine and speciality chemicals, polymer, silicone, oxo-synthesis, the environment, electronics and many more.
Organo-metallic precious metal catalysts and pre-cursors
Besides our range of inorganic chemicals we have developed a wide range of organo-metallic precious metal catalysts and pre-cursors, which are used primarily for homogeneous catalysis applications.
Typical reactions which use these catalysts are:
• Hydrogenation
• Carbonylation
• Hydrosilylation
• Hydrofomylation
• C-X couplings (e.g. Heck, Suzuki and Stille)
• Metathesis
• Chiral catalysis reactions
Life sciences technology development
Striving to offer leading-edge solutions to the life sciences industry, our team focuses on four technology platforms:
• Chiralyst™ - chiral ligands and catalysts
• Umicore CX - Pd N-heterocyclic carbene catalysts for cross-coupling reactions
• Umicore M - Ru metathesis catalysts provided with customer-oriented IP models
• Ecolyst™ - innovative metal-separation technologies
Custom manufacturing and development of organo-metallic precious metal compounds
We have considerable expertise in rapid scale-up of organo-metallic precious metal compounds. We are also able to customise catalysts to produce novel metal/ligand combinations for specific projects. We are able to undertake specific research and development projects in conjunction with our customers.
Catalyst selection, application and optimisation consultancy
Our applied technology team is always available to discuss catalyst selection, application and optimisation, and would be pleased to discuss new requirements and catalysts with you. We operate a strict policy of confidentiality with our customers, which we support with appropriate agreements.
Dedicated to its customers' success, Umicore creates value through the catalyst's entire lifecycle.
